Crescent Action 18

The Crescent Action 18 was the top of the range of Action MTBs produced by the Swedish giant of cycle manufacture.  I have never seen one in the 'flesh' but found this one pic online and wanted to show it before it gets taken down and disappears.  Crescent Actions are fairly rare to see, and though not very valuable they represent a quality and style that still stand out today.  Hard to say if this Action is of the same generation as my Action 15 as the paint job and parts are a bit different, such as the chain guard.  This one has clearly seen better days too.  But they were built like tanks - designed to crush rocks rather than ride above them.  I love them.  More to follow...

Crescent Action 15 - excellent off road machine

coping with winter extremes
back home in the bike shed
This old school Swedish bike is one of the early MTBs produced by Crescent in the late 80s or possibly early 1990s.  As you might expect, its heavy steel frame makes it a sturdy machine.  I love the old style chrome mudguards (my first proper bike as a kid was a red Raleigh Chopper) which have a nostalgic feel.  The Action 15 has, as you might expect, 15 gears which places this model as high in its range - there was also an Action 5, possibly an Action 10 but I have never seen the latter and a Crescent Action 18.  The bike pictured feels very solid to ride and almost indestructible.  You get the feeling this is one bike that can run and run - only the tyres and brake pads will ever need changing.  It is difficult to find a clear pic of this bike online so I thought it time that the Crescent Action 15 was awarded its own special page.  Hope you like it too!
